Shiny objects.

Always with the shiny objects.

You read an article about building a niche blog and you start. It takes work. But you are moving forward. You have yet to make a sale, but your traffic is picking up. You are getting into it.

Then you happen upon an ebook about bum marketing. Well, you are started on the right direction. Let’s just try this instead and put the other one on hold. But of course, this is also a lot of work.

But that other ebook that just came out last week is looking good. Maybe, if you plan to buy that when your next paycheck comes in, something will change for the better.

Ever see the picture of a spider building a web on caffeine. Yeah, that’s about the result.

There is time to try new things, but the reason is to add to your current skills, not run away from work. There is not very many magic bullets left on the internet and when you find them, they will not be around long.

So, focus for a while, already. And don’t take anyone’s word for anything until you have tried it yourself and given it your best shot.

    Great point. It’s very easy to spend your whole time online learning new things and never applying that knowledge simply because there is such a plethora if information out there.

    I was just reading a blog post about a similar topic the other day from a marketer. Focus is key but it does take a lot of power to shy away from buying into the hype and craze of new product launches. A lot of people have the mentality of I don’t want to be left out.

    I’ve never seen the spider building a web images before. That’s interesting to say the least.

    Yes, learning and applying it is the key to success. Success always needs your focus on some thing and hard work on it. Some times people get confused about new thing coming out daily over the internet and they loose focus on their work that becomes the reason for failure.

    @Agra Indian:
    I am totally agree with you. However sometimes we need to change ourselves in order to keep up with the current challenge.

    This is so true. Early on in my efforts I started questioning my method(s). I came across articles and ebooks about the so-called “conduit method” and it really made me doubt what I was doing. But fortunately, instead of hopping to the next best wagon, I decided to first stay with what I already got and make the most out of it. So I put “bum marketing” in the back of my mind and when the right time comes I will get into it.

    Great analogy with the spider! Funnily enough, I just listened to a song by Captain Sensible: “I am a Spider”. Quite catchy! :o )

    Well said. It’s easy to get caught up with the latest trend strategy but if one constantly changes their strategy they will not accomplish any progress.
