Using Zemanta For a Niche Blog
This post is going to be off the cuff a bit. Just a few ideas I have had about using Zemanta and have yet to test. For a more detailed description for what Zemanta does, check out my post at Bloghology. If all you want is a summary, check out how Zemanta can speed up your blogging by saving you time.
Zemanta recently added a feature for adding your own feed sources to the pool of feeds it uses to pull related content from. This can mean a lot to a niche blog. I was thinking a Zemanta account for each niche blog you have and then there are the follow possibilities:
Trackbacks from DoFollow Blogs
You can build a list of blogs that are in the same niche your blog is in and link back to them with each post.
Any trackback may get you notice from the blogger you are linking to. But it may be good to check if the blog accepts trackbacks. Some don’t. You can also get some link juice if you find dofollow blogs to link back to. One good way is to use Fast Blog Finder. Another is to use one of the dofollow search engines online and grab the feeds of blogs that you find.
Get Linked To
See the reblog button at the end of this post. I will have to test to see how many people will actually use the button.
Linking to Your Affiliate Products
- You could create one category on your blog that contains all of your products and use the feed of that category in Zemanta.
- You could build a site out that will import your affiliate products and produces feeds and add those feeds to Zemanta.
- You could find a service that provides feeds of affiliate products and add those.
- You can use Zemanta’s built-in ability to link to Amazon products with your affiliate link.

I may be ignorant here, but how does linking TO a do follow blog give YOU link juice?

If they are showing trackbacks and these trackbacks are dofollow, when you link to the blog, the blog will link back to you, like the first comment on this post which is actually a trackback, but not dofollow.
I tested out a plugin: http://www.bluehatseo.com/new-wordpress-plugin-pingcrawl/
that did this automatically for a while. It searched out blogs that showed trackbacks related to the current post and linked to them. It just did too much for my taste.
