PostHeaderIcon Current Adwords Mistakes

I wrote a post a few days ago about newbie adwords mistakes and got a little big for my britches. I currently make mistakes. The biggest one being taking anything for granted. Like dropping some of the practices that created all of my profit for me.

Always split test. Use at least two ads in each ad group and once you have enough impressions to notice people favoring one over the other, replace the ad with the lowest CTR. I admit I slack on this one, tending to go after quantity rather than quality with my limited time.

PostHeaderIcon Newbie Adwords Scares

There was a time when I would panic when a new "Make Money with Clickbank and Adwords" product came out. I imagined all the competitors it would create and prepare to fight them off. But it never really happened. I would also see newbies say that products I thought were written in gold did nothing for them. They tried everything but came to a conclusion that the product was a scam.

At first I thought this was strange. How could something that was responsible for increasing my income so much be thought of as little more than trash by others? But in the last few days I have been thinking back to when I was a newbie.

PostHeaderIcon Adwords and using “aff”

The other day I noticed an Adwords ad with "aff" in it. This used to be the requirement if you created an Adwords ad that linked to a product via an affiliate link. But it has been over two years since this was needed. Now only one ad per url is shown, theoretically allowing only one affiliate to directly link via an affiliate per search per user.

Why would someone still be using this? I can only think of two possibilities. The one is not much help. It could be a new affiliate with old information. All of the classic Adwords ebooks were written when you had to use "aff" with these type of Ads. So it could be a person who just does not know what he is doing quite yet.

PostHeaderIcon The Adwords Content Network

I like to think of the Google content network as the gauntlet of shelves you face at the grocery store checkout. This is where people make impulse buys. You are not going to get as many bites but the bites are cheaper. You can usually get a good amount of hits by bidding five to ten cents on content.

Searches however are different. You are going to pay more, so you better know the keywords you are using. People are looking for something specific.

PostHeaderIcon Some Adwords Misconceptions and Lessons

I don’t know if most of these are still misconceptions, but when I learned to use Adwords to promote affiliate products they were I few things I learned from articles, forums and ebooks that I had to unlearn in order to make a profit. About half of my Clickbank sales come directly from PPC. For those of you trying Adwords outs some of these tips may help you on your way.
