I Guess I Called It with Google Snatch

October 16, 2007

A few days ago, I said that Google Snatch was going to be the next new thing at Clickbank. I guess I was right. But now is time to have a good lesson on how to get your foot in the door when it comes to a hot product. Now is the perfect time. Search for Google Snatch and you can see where you need to be next time I announce a hot product. Take a look at some of the sites:

  • GoogleSnatch.org - This site plays off the fact that "Google Snatch" is a relatively unused phrase. About the only thing people using this phrase will be looking for is this product. But that is as far as we will go with this one.
  • FederalReviews.com - A review site. Probably will drop lower as competition gets fierce.
  • Squidoo.com - Jackpot.
  • Propeller.com - Another jackpot. This is the new domain of the Netscape Digg Clone. It has had highly ranked pages for unique key phrases for a long time now.
  • GoArticles.com - Jackpot. I already mentioned this is the first post on Google Snatch.
  • Technorati - Too complex for now.
  • GoogleSnatch.blogspot.com - Jackpot yet again.
  • zippyvideos.com - May be. Have to investigate this one.
  • Bumpzee.com - Jackpot is you’re a blogger.
  • Yet another propeller and goarticles page.
  • Yet another squidoo page.

And my original post is down in slot 28. But this post should bring that up a little and if any of my readers happen to tag this post or my earlier post using the links below the "Share and Enjoy" with "Google Snatch", I will jump a little higher. The day after the post I was at #1. How does this work?

Like I said, "Google Snatch" is a relatively unused term. This is a one way to spot a product to promote. The guy could have called the ebook "How I Make Money Through Article Marketing" but the terms would not be as unique. Think of some of the top products on Clickbank:

  • SEO Elite
  • Blogging to the Bank
  • The Rich Jerk
  • ForexEnterprise

They all have very unique names. When someone searches with these keywords, they are looking for the product.

But when the product launches, Google gives first dibs on rank to sites that have rank already and those that spidered a lot. Google checks for new content more often on sites that are constantly being updated. If yours is not updated that often or doesn’t have a way to announce it’s new content like a blog, it may take Google and other search engines a few days to catch on.

So who will know the product name and who will actually search for it a few days after it even becomes a product. The people bombarded with the email newsletters for one. Google Snatch will stick in the back of their mind even after they delete their email. Another reason for a unique product name. And if a product jumps to number 2 in a major Clickbank category in a couple of weeks, you can be sure that people will be searching for it.

Squidoo, GoArticles and Propeller, among other sites are free to sign up for. They have rank because they are community sites. The site owner and every community member has a stake in the site ranking high in the search engines. An article or link on Google Snatch ranks up their with the rest of them, if done right. So take so time to examine these links.

And hopefully next time, I will call it just as well. And you will be ready with your list of sites that automatically rank high, for free.

And if you want to test my theory, bookmark this post at one of the social sites below and I will post a follow up.
