Google Snatch
October 3, 2007
I started a new category today. "The Next Big Thing". Clickbank always has these coming down the pipe. It is sort of a tongue-in-cheek category because I am definitely a little skeptical about most products like this. Do I think they will make you money? Oh, for a week or two until everyone floods the search engines.
As far as CBtrends goes, no one has yet sold a product. My site doesn’t list it yet because it must have launched today. And why do I think it’s about to rise. My inbox is full of emails promoting it. And soon, mark my word, EzineArticles and GoArticles will be flooded with articles that have Google Snatch in the title. There are already two Adwords Ads and someone is already gaming the Adwords system in order to get their direct affiliate link in there with another one.
To start off, we have the traditional sales page for these types of products. Words that have pow. Glowing testimonials. The graphics could do with a little work and this may be what actually prevents the procut from hitting it big. And when you get down to the bottom, you realize you have read a whole bunch of emotionally charged words that tell you nothing about what the product actually does. To me, this is usually a indication that the product covers a really simple subject, but I could be wrong.
And who are they aiming at. Adwords users. The product could work for others, but this is marketing. The same product can be edited a little, wrapped in another package, and marketed toward another segment later on. But Adwords is hard to learn and there have been a bundle of these "promote Clickbank with Adwords" products coming out lately. This is the anti-Adwords product to catch all those people who failed with the Adwords products. If he hadn’t of focused on this, he may have lost sales from people who have tried PPC for Clickbank. But now, he’s "on their side". He also rags on long-tail keywords for the people who have gone down that route.
From the gist of the email, its seems the product focuses on submitting your site to multiple search engines and using article marketing to get traffic. So it could be a carbon copy of another product you have already read.
The sales page has an email form to get a free video. This is the staple of Clickbank products. When they can’t sell you from the page, they will try a video, and then follow up with more emails. This is a good sign if you are looking for a product to promote. I took a look at the videos. There are a series of three, not one of which hints at what it is he is actually selling, but again, he gets on the side of the people who weren’t able to get PPC or long-tail keywords.

I agree..Seems like more of the same, only with a different title. Long tail keywords have been good to me, so any criticism of their pursuit, automatically makes me uneasy..
What is bothersome, is that the marketing campaign gives the impression that there is some sort of secret or amazing marketing strategy that will be revealed to you, thus, making riches possible.
I am a bit tired of most of that kind of hype, and found that your post summarized it beautifully..
“From the gist of the email, its seems the product focuses on submitting your site to multiple search engines and using article marketing to get traffic. So it could be a carbon copy of another product you have already read.”
Accept for software that provides a specific function such as article submission software, most “Internet marketing strategies” in the form of an ebook, are usually old methods with new hype behind them..
Anyway, not that I was going to buy the course, but finding this review just helped me realize that once again, I wasn’t missing anything..
Thanks..Robert..

Save your money. GS is overpriced, poorly-written waffle. The sales page claims it has nothing to do with SEO, but that is ALL it is about, using techniques which have been around for years. Nothing new. No “secrets”. Confusing and contradictory for beginners.
I figured as much. Thanks for the honest opinion.
Some people are just plain stupid, affiliate marketing seems to attract the fools that think they can jump on the next big product thats released and make money, the damage is done way before the product is even released, when the product is finally released the lions share of buyers has already gone and your left playing for scraps, why do you think that the big boys who promomote the pre-release product via email don’t have websites selling the product?
Look at Affiliate elite! Thousands of promotions already set up and not one of them have reviewed the product, do you think they are going to make money? Doubt it very much, these fools are out their filling up the vendors mailing lists ready for the launch and when that happens the vendors are going to amke a killing once again leaving the litle guys to push their squidoo lenses onto front page of google in hope that someone might not have heard about it yet, one born every minute.
I think that sometimes we seem to forget that we were once new to all these techniques and back then we thought they were the next best thing since sliced bread. To the more experienced marketers they might not be anything new but lets not forget that theres 1000’s of people who are just getting into affiliate marketing and these techniques and methods will certainly be new to them.
Eric,
About Affiliate Elite, it seems to be another product to stalk your competitors. And you are right, everyone knows. The day it launches, forget any newbies being able to get a foot in the door. Even I don’t think of promoting it in that mess of affiliates.
Ben,
I do see your point there. There are products definitely targeted towards newbies. And if you purchased the product and are satisfied, that’s all we ask. But with the amount of hype out there, it’s hard to tell.
It seems there are two ways to get information on Clickbank products: a scam buster site where everyone thinks that every Clickbank product is a scam or an affiliate’s blog, where of course, the product is the next best thing since sliced bread.
I heard that it’s basically lots of SEO stuff and things about links. Nothing “revolutionary” per se. Anyhow, i’m pretty sure we’ll be hearing more about it sooner than later.
That’s great for someone new to this. I tend to think every activity online to get traffic to a product is going to include a little bit of SEO. The internet hasn’t changed that much.
I have been making more money lately through SEO tactics than anything else. And SEO only costs you time for the most part.
I have just watched the google snatch promos. It does sound convincing but I have been suckered before. I came on this forum and did my research. Thanks. What is the best book to buy on internet marketing? So far I have spent $900 on adwords and have had a return of $14.95 promoting click bank
I learned from what I think are the two originals on the subject: Google Cash and Perry Marshall’s book on using Adwords. For that part of affiliate marketing, I would choose those two.
Hi,
I notice that you heavily promote affiliate programs and products. I really admire the way that you set up your review website.
I am an excellent Freelance Writer of ebooks, articles, review sites, etc. and have written an ebook on “How I got all 10 spots on Google’s Front Page.” I will be interviewed on September 1, 2008 by another Internet Marketer from Australia and the audio and transcripts will be made available to me as well.
The ebook has sold many copies in the warrior forum. This is where I tested it first. It is listed at paydotcom and clickbank.
I am offering 55% affiliate commission to you if you are interested in promoting this for me and would be also happy to give you a free copy of the ebook, but only if you express a strong interest.

I know you are busy, but I think I do have a good product and need some marketing help.
Thanks in advance as I await your reply. My email is oncoursellc@bellsouth.net
