PostHeaderIcon Free Easy Hopads Wordpress Plugin

Over the last year or so, I’ve experimented with a plugin that imports the Clickbank marketplace into another table in Wordpress and adds related products to the posts. You can see the result of that work at the bottom of this post. The problem was that I finished to a point that would be functional for me but no for the average Wordpress user. So, as of yet, it hasn’t made it to a release version yet.

Then, a little over a month ago, Clickbank introduced hopads. These are javascript based widgets that you can put anywhere on your page. They are not exactly contextual. You have to enter your keywords before you create your ad. A great idea for helping out newbies promoting Clickbank products, but not exactly the quickest process.

So I wrote this plugin. It was a lot easier that getting my old one ready.

There are many ways I have come with to creating seed keywords for related products. This plugin uses the first tag of the post. So you don’t have to worry about adding keywords.

You also don’t have to worry about pasting the code in your blog posts. This plugin will do that for you. It put one ad in every post of your blog. It skips the other pages.

Hopads can be any size and have unlimited listings. They are very customizable. You are not limited to standard “skyscraper” and “banner” sizes. This is a good thing and a bad thing. The bad thing being that you have to experiment with the width, height and number of ads settings until it looks right.

Installation

Please enter your details below to get your plugin link by email:

Your email address:

Preferred Format:

You will receive a download link within one hour.

Unzip the file and upload the contents to your wp-content/plugins/ folder.

Use

hopads-dashboard1

The dashboard is pretty self-explanatory. It is under the settings heading in your Wordpress admin. The default settings for the ads look like the one at the top of this post.

Make sure to enter your affiliate id and a tracking id in the right boxes.

You can choose a heading for your ad and font style. I am not sure why the heading is not working in the plugin. It is actually a function of the hopads javascript and shows in the code. It just does not appear and will be fixed or removed in future versions.

In the next column over, you can specify width and height. You can also set up how many rows and columns of ads the ad will have. Both of these values will have to be played with to get a good looking ad. I hope to make preconfigured sizes in future versions with a drop-down for ease of use. You can also set the alignment of the text in the ad. And position the ad either at the top or bottom and left or right of the post.

In the next column over, you set the background, font, link and hover color. I added a javacript color picker to make choosing easier. Under that you can choose to help me out if you want. I would love any sort of link love you could give and any sort of feedback on the plugin. Below are features I plan on adding, but all suggestions will be taken seriously.

Color PickerTo Do

  • Preconfigured ad sizes, so you don’t have to go through the trouble of guessing width, height and number of ads.
  • Add widgets
  • More than one ad per post
  • Ads on archive pages
  • Fix heading issue

This is really cool, it’ll be very useful for lots and lots of people, though I think it’ll take a couple months or so to catch on. I can’t imagine why this wouldn’t get to be very popular quickly. Thanks for making this!

This is really great plugin, thanks for it!

I am wondering if I can add the ads on the sidebar beside post? how do I do that?

    thanks in advanced!

It will be a future feature and one of the reasons I required a sign up to get the plugin. That way, I can just send you an email when there is an update. Another reason is that I have some more things planned for the plugin, even more advanced than that and it gives me the option of making it a paid plugin in the future. But, of course, every one who signs up now will get all future versions free.

    Hello Stephan,

First, I do want to thank you for visiting my site and bringing this plug-in to my attention.

I’m very interested in trying your plug-in as I do promote several Clickbank products. I’m currently using the HopAds builder provided by Clickbank but it’s limited in functions. I’ll give your plug-in a test drive and let you know what I think.

    Best regards,
    Robert

Hi Stephan, thanks so much for this plugin – I have one site that covers a variety of topics, and it provides a perfect way to get targeted ads for each post.

Thank you for a very good Plugin, if only I saw it before I posted this:

    http://www.topmarketingreview.com/blog/2009/03/28/wordpress-fans-plugins-you-can-live-with/

    It would be right there!

It goes well with the style of the post and much better looking than CB hopads, two thumps up!

  • Stephan Miller says:

Thanks everyone. I figured some of you would need this. It beats creating a hopad for each post. I should have a much better version within a month or so.

Thanks this is a new info for me. Although I’m not aktif with Clickbank anymore however I’ll keep this articles.

  • Taylor says:

This plugin conflicts with another plugin, I believe it’s the Free Traffic Getting SEO Plugin by Anthony Montalbano.

“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare my_wp_dashboard_setup() (previously declared in /home/username/public_html/domain.com/wp-content/plugins/seo-blog/core.php:0) in /home/username/public_html/domain.com/wp-content/plugins/clickbankhopads/clickbankhopads.php on line 496″

  • Stephan Miller says:

Thanks, I will look into fixing that for the next update.

  • Seb says:

Hi this looks really cool I’m a bit of a newbie so forgive my ignorance my question is will your click bank id be displayed in the url? And if so is there anyway to cloak it if your using word press? Hope this makes sense

    Cheers

Tracking id is for your usage. It can be anything. It’s so you can identify where the sale came from.

    Hi Stephan

Thanks for the opportunity to use your plugin. I am looking forward to receiving the download link. Unfortunately it never came in the first email ,so I am hoping my reply to you will see me receiving the link and I will be underway.

It looks like a very user friendly product and I like the way the ads are formatted.

    Great stuff! :)

  • Stephan Miller says:

My currnet settings only allow me to send out emails once an hour, so you should get a second email within the hour with a link. If not, hit me up with my contact form on the menu above.

  • Andrew (1 comments.) says:

Thank you for the plugin. This looks very useful in bringing at least a semblance of ad targetting according to the content of your post.

  • Richard (1 comments.) says:

Well, it is OK for clickbank to protect (cloak) the links if we wish to. Is there a way to cloak the links generated with hopad builder itself? Other than manipulating the status bar output?

I am wondering how to cloak them, as the ad content is generated on their servers (I am using the javascript alone inserted at the top post in my blog).

Thanks in advance for your time and help,

    Richard
