CommentLuv Reinstalled and My Comment Policy

I had to knock the cobwebs off of a few of my blogs before I starting thinking about blogging again. This one had a few missing plugins after the move to it’s own VPS. But it is now my fastest site.
One of the plugins that was missing was the CommentLuv plugin. That is now reinstalled. So if you comment and the url you use is a blog, you will get a link back to your last post. These type of links are more valuable deep links into your site. It is easy to get a link back to your homepage from directories, social network profiles and the list goes on. But if you consistently find CommentLuv blogs to comment on after you write a post, you will build a web of deep links into your blog that will be hard to beat.
One twist is that I also have Lucia’s Love plugin installed also. This kicks the dofollow in after you have comment three times. This prevents hit and run link building.
Another side effect of me cleaning up my blog is that I checked out some new plugins. One new plugin I installed is called the SEO Super Comments Plugin which adds another twist to the dofollow equation. This plugin does not add a direct link to the url you add to the comment box. It links instead to a page listing all of your comments on this blog. But since I do have CommentLuv installed, if you have a blog, then you still get a link from the your comment directly to your last post. I know, confusing. So I will break it down. In the past I have had snide comments on my blog lists because dofollow was not instantaneous after one comment.
Comment Policy
- I don’t mind keyworded links as long as you add to the conversation and I delete short comments meant to flatter me into approving them.
- All of your comments become dofollow after 3 approved comments
- If you have a blog, you will get a link to your last post with your comment. This will be dofollow also and will be directly from the comment
- Your normal url link will now link to a page listing all of your comments and you will get a link to your url from that page.
This is subject to change at any time. The SEO Super Comment plugin is just being tested currently.

XSBVFO Excellent article, I will take note. Many thanks for the story!
Hello Stephen,
Since you don’t mind keywords in your comments have you considered installing KeywordLuv so we can be friendly and leave our names AND only link to the best anchor text? I wrote a post all about it which is the featured CommentLuv post for this comment.
I thought you might want to know that I found my way here from a comment you left over at Alex’s howtospoter blog.

Hi
Just got my blog up and running and just calling in to say Hello.
My blog is football related(English), and, I had been looking for other football blogs, when I came across yours.
I know you are not football related, but you do have some good affiliate info, and both the, “SEO Super Comments plugin” and “KeywordLuv plugin”, which you mention, look interesting.
When starting a blog, it is difficult to know which plugins to install. Odd plugins are mentioned here and there, and I have installed some, but it would be nice to have a list of the best, to start with.
Thank you for your interesting site. It is getting late, so I will have to come back to complete my look around.
Regards
Steve
Good plugin, I have heard about the plugin before but I know its functions just after reading your post here. Thanks for the info
Thanks for the info, is it available for blogger blog?
I just started experimenting with the CommentLuv plugin, got burned a few months ago. I downloaded but DID NOT ACTIVATE the TopCommentator plugin, and you have never seen so much spam in your life! Deleted that plugin immediately, but I’m still getting lots of spam to that site. Excuse the rant, but what on earth are these idiots thinking who leave these garbage comments? Do they really think I’m going to approve them??!! Rant over. Thanks for the info in this post, if CommentLuv works out I’ll try a couple of the other plugins you are using.

Great! My blog uses commentluv too. Good site btw. Was looking around.. Cheers
Your Comment Policy sounds just a little confusing, but I think it makes perfect sense (after reading it a couple of times
). I have CommentLuv, KeywordLuv, Top Commentator and DoFollow installed on my blog, and after reading this I am seriously considering removing Top Commentator. I too get loads of spam comments. And I quite like the idea of only getting dofollow after posting 3 times. That might wipe out a few spammers…
