PostHeaderIcon Building a List of Blogs to Comment On

For the most part, I have been a loose cannon commenter in the past, jumping from blog to blog, adding comments where I can. Since there is thousands of blogs out there, I only commented on the same blog twice by chance. But there is something to be said about building a circuit of blogs to comment on, especially if your blog is in a specific niche.

Am I going to talk about DoFollow in the this post. Only a bit. DoFollow helps, as does Top Commenters, Recent Comments, KeywordLuv and CommentLuv. And one of my favorite tools is Fast Blog Finder. But you can focus too much on that. And everybody and his brother is.

That being said, I have started to build a list of blogs to comment on, related to this blog. The tools I used were Fast Blog Finder, the Entrecard toolbar and the Diigo toolbar.

Every time I write a post here I do a search in Fast Blog Finder using keywords related to my post. If when I get to the blog, the rest of the posts fit my blog, I drag the tab to the “comments” filter button on Diigo. Diigo has a toolbar that allows you to add tag based buttons to it to access bookmarks quickly.

I also use the Entrecard toolbar to find related blogs in the Internet Marketing or Make Money Online. And if I like the blog, I drag the tab to the same “comments” button.

Over time this list will grow and the bloggers will begin to recognize me, because I come back often. Entrecard users will notice that I drop cards and comment, a rarity for many Entrecard users. Both of these methods may get me better links than the initial comments did. I do have some good, solid content here. And if they are new to my blog, they may link back to me from a post or two. And links from inside a post beat comment links or sidebar links any day. So yes, DoFollow is great but to be followed is better.

Being random with your comments may spread links to more domains, but regular commenting on a list of blogs let’s people know who you are and that you’re here for the long haul. Well, at least, I am going to see how it works out.

There seems to be a movement towards dofollow links on blogs nowadays. I think folks are beginning to see that dofollow doesn’t always mean that only spammers will post.

I have a list of several dofollow blogs that I comment to on a regular basis. Of course I try not to just take from the site so I subscribe to their feeds and click on their ads so that they benefit from my being on their blog.

I have been reading a lot of good things about Fast Blog Finder recently but haven’t given it a try yet. Looks like you have figured out a pretty ideal toolset for your purposes though. I’ll have to give it a try.

I got so into creating my own list of dofollow blogs to follow I put them in a search engine. I do notice about 10% of my list changes back to nofollow so you always need to confirm!

My blog has a PR of 4 and I am aiming for PR 5 in the next update. Should I comment only on blogs with PR 5 or higher.

@Jhangora: Don’t think so. You should comment on every well written blog

If you want to get commentators for your blog, one thing is good for you to submit your website/blog link to many links directories. There are free as well as paid links directory submission.

Giving more comments to a blog/website in many pages will likely build a good relationship. It is more valuable than leave just one comment and forget it.

I comment on random blogs but I must admit that I don’t pay attention to where I am at. I think I willl create a list of solid dofollow blogs to comment on and save that list in my google docs.

I started building a list yesterday for this exact purpose. I have put together a nice mix of blogs that pass link juice and also blogs within my niche. With blogs in my niche even if they don’t pass link juice I think it’s still good to comment on them, get to know the owners and other comments.

A nice mixture should create some solid results.

Yes, I’m a big supporter that blogging is about building a community. It’s not a solo effort, you must become friends with other bloggers and mutually help each other out.

Usually when I leave comments on a blog, especially when I’m asking a question or make some good points (IMO), I make sure to bookmark that post. That way I can come back at a later time and see how the author or other commenters reacted to my comment. Its pretty easy to just leave one and then forget about it but I think its important to check back every once in a while.

You are right regular commenting pays a lot because people know you, it also help to clear the moderation system until and unless you spam them. Being top commenter on some blogs can boost like popularity also.

I use stumble upon for the purpose of seeking blogs of my own niche to comment on. But this is an interesting idea you are proposing. I would give it a try and see how it works.

    Thanks for the information.

What I try to do, sounds obvious but, is try to find blogs where you might get that lovely backlink BUT you’ll actually learn something new. If you spend a few minutes reading some good blogs everyday you’ll likely pick up a few tricks. If you find a good blog keep returning.

I’ve recently been trying Comment Kahuna. I know about fast blog finder and will be testing it today. So far I haven’t been impressed with Comment Kahuna. But it may be that the do-follow blogging state of mind has not quite hit the internet in full yet. Still a lot of bloggers that are unaware of the luv that comes from Google when you allow your blog to have the do-follow type comments.

and i think this is among the good blogs that makes you want to return :)
